Move over, Ms L!

Hi all, wondering why you are looking at this jumbled up page? This is due to the fact that Facebook didn't like our url since it starts with wog, so we have been forced to move the blog. This was some time ago, and we have placed a script which would automatically send you to our new location. Obviously, this hasn't worked for all of you, since we have just finished moderating some of your comments which appeared on this site recently, and not on our new (and improved!) site. So what we're saying is head on over to our new site, and update your bookmarks!

Hamburg Beatles collection on the market

George Harrison at the Beatles' living quarters in the cinema building across the street from the Indra Club.
German Beatles expert, fan, historian and collector Uwe Blaschke died in 2010, leaving a vast collection of memorabilia from The Beatles' Hamburg days behind. He used to display his collection on the website BeatlesCollection.de. The collection has now been divided into lots, and is for sale via Heritage Auctions. Among the amazing things there are several signed items, including unique one-of-a-kind items like letters and postcards, but also the original recording contract with Polydor for the Tony Sheridan sessions, which has been getting attention by the media at large. There are items from clubs the Beatles played in Hamburg, the Indra Club, Kaiserkeller, Top Ten Club and the Star Club. I want the pig-shaped tip jar from the Star Club ;-)
The auction also features lots from later on in The Beatles' career.

Here's a promotional video for the auction, which is held September 19-20.

You can take a closer look at the auction lots here.

Hi - the so called Bambi picture by George might not be from the Bambi but perhaps from the Top Ten. I have written a large story on the Bambi and according to the building plan the door - where George stood went to the inside of the room and not as here to the outside.

Nice stuff, but my pockets are not that deep. Interesting letter from Brian Epstein to Horst Fascher, 14 Sept '62. Brian offers The Beatles to him for next year (1963) at 350 DM per week, per man. Things turned out different.

Astounding collection - broad scope with so many unique and truly scarce cool items. Opening bids are just too darn high for me.
